From traditional bouquets to large-scale installations, wedding flowers that wow help define your style and make an impression. Local florists unveil the season’s prettiest petals.

Clean and Chic

Trends ebb and flow, but the prettiest of designs stand the test of time. Dawn Talley of Talley Floral & Events in Kennett Square says she’s noticing that couples are forgoing flowers of the moment (think bold, modern) and opting for more traditional bouquets. “I see clients gravitating toward a more romantic style—lots of roses in pink, peach and white tones,” she notes. To complete the classic style, pack bouquets with monochromatic pink or white blooms. Add a touch of pale green, baby’s breath and wispy ribbon to create a look that’s both unforgettable and classic.

Bohemian Riche

Sometimes simplicity males the boldest statement. Wildflowers, earth tones and lots of greenery deliver an effortless bohemian vibe. According to Susan Krabill, wedding coordinator at Jen-Mor Florist in Dover, this wedding season is all about embracing loose designs and cascading flowers. “Even if the wedding is formal, people want more natural designs with lots of succulents, greens and berries,” she says. For fall and winter, purple is popular. Throw together lavender, thistle and succulents, such as echeveria, and a string of pearls to add texture.

Pretty in Paper

Fresh flowers typically last for a few days after the big event, but what if you could make your flowers last a lifetime? Anastasia Jackson, owner of Cookie’s Paper Petals in Milford, says that paper flowers allow you the freedom to create whatever look you want, no matter the season. “There’s no limit to what you can design,” she explains. Plus, paper petals are more eco-friendly and can also be stored for months before your big day. Another bonus: They make great take-home gifts for your guests.
