Your wedding is a huge investment, and finding reputable, trustworthy vendors to carry out your vision can be a challenge. Two entrepreneurs, Kaleigh Gallagher and Marcie Reilly Egner, from West Chester, Pa., are trying to simplify the process through their new social network for weddings, Flutter Social. We caught up with them to learn more.

Explain the concept of Flutter Social.
It’s really about finding out who the best wedding professionals are for you based off of who you are connected to. Like most things in life, we found that the best recommendations come from the people you know. So we help you find your wedding professionals based on your personal network. We are a social network, so it’s the connections you have on Flutter Social that we base the recommendations on.
How does a bride or groom get involved?
You can sign up with Flutter Social through Facebook. When you first log in, you fill out a wedding profile to give us an idea of what you’re looking for. For example, what do you know so far about your wedding—where’s it going to be, how many people, etc. We’ll use that and your connections to make personalized recommendations about what wedding vendors will be a good fit. You can also look through the featured real weddings on the site. It’s ideal because you can see the vendors’ work as it comes out and gain inspiration and ideas for your own wedding.
How did you come up with this idea?
Marcie and I were working at Cleveland Clinic Innovations (a healthcare system). Marcie got married five years ago and she was the maid of honor in her sister’s wedding, and I was a bridesmaid or maid of honor in seven weddings at that point. With our experiences in being part of those weddings, we both came to the realization that you spend all this time looking for inspiration all over the web for your wedding, but when it came down to booking it’s like you’re starting from scratch. We decided to fill that void in the wedding industry by creating Flutter Social. We both left our jobs, and I moved to West Chester (where Marcie and her husband settled) a year ago, and we launched Flutter.
Is there a cost for planning couples to join?
It’s always free for couples. Our objective is to help couples navigate their local wedding scene as seamlessly as possible. You don’t need a million options, you just need the right one.
Are you hoping to grow this nationwide?
Absolutely. There’s definitely a need for it. We recently received an email asking us to roll out a network in Chicago. There’s been interest in other markets, but our goal is to focus on building a strong network here and then grow our team. This is definitely a national and international opportunity. We’re excited about it.
